Children’s Ministries

Vacation Bible School is held every year for one week during the summer. This year VBS was held July 13-16. The children enjoyed singing, recreation, crafts, Bible stories and science labs using the Power of God VBS curriculum.

Cradle Ministry is a ministry that shares with the family the congregation’s joy of the birth of a new baby and, again, when the infant is baptized into the church community. Contact: Sandy Railsback, 293-5624.

STARSHIP is a program at Cullowhee United Methodist Church for elementary age children. It gives children an opportunity to shine like stars through music and drama. The purpose of this program is to give every interested child in our church and community the experience of learning and performing and to develop a positive self esteem and pride in a job well done. The children sing and perform skits during worship various times throughout the year. A highlight of our Advent season is the children’s Christmas play. Contact Penny Graham, 586-5646.

CUMC Nursery is staffed by two adult paid attendants and two volunteers on Sunday mornings from 8:45 – 12:15 to provide a stimulating, stable environment for our infant to toddler age groups. There are also volunteers and paid attendants who care for the pre-school children during the worship service. Contact: Bonnie Stephens, 293-1154.

Children’s Ministry facilitates the many activities at CUMC beyond Sunday school for children from infants through fifth grade. Opportunities for service in children’s ministry include nursery assistance, helping with special events, leading children’s church on Sunday and participating in Vacation Bible School. Contact: Sandy Railsback, 293-9215.

Children’s Message occurs during the worship service with adults sharing their faith with children in a five-minute lesson. Contact the church office, 293-9215.

During this time, children may enjoy special stories, crafts, music, prayer time, unique worship experiences, object lessons and, from time to time, dance. Contact: Sandy Railsback, 293-9215.
